Christmas is on its way fast; And for one lucky person this will be waiting under the tree! The pattern is a French Braid original by Tiffany Barcus, inspired by a photo form The Quilters Magazine, Sep 2010. The braid design fades from dark to light or light to dark with a dark or light center, strips of black enclose the braid , and white strips show off the detail of the black thread quilting. To add the vines I prepared the black material by cutting more than the length i needed, shaping and cutting the limbs while appliqueing them on with the long-arm(quilting machine). Also i added limb detail, and the flowers while quilting. By laying the flowers as I quilted i could place them where they were needed, and add detail on each flower pieces.

Ready or Not

Here comes Christmas!!! To start off the season here is a pattern called Glitter and Gold. This quilt was made as a donation to raise funds for a local man with medical needs. A thank you needs to go to Joan Wellman for the purchase of the quilt at the benefit auction.

The quilting and applique are a tribute to western life style, the border is quilted with barbed wire the red blocks have a fill stitch of tooling and holly leaves.

Custom order quilts.

Match the colors in you house to your quilt or match the quilt to the colors and style of you! This quilt order was for a grey black and purple quilt. After talking with the client a few ties i came to understand what type of quilt fits her best and that the jasmine flower is special for her. Finished with a Jasmine flower appliqued, velveteen backing, and custom free-motion quilting.

Homemade Halloween Costumes 2ninjas-3

Shane: Red Black Gold Brock: Grey, Red, Silver
These ninjas are proud warriors when they suit up!

Being a quilter has allowed me to explore the world of novice costume designer. Last Halloween I added some fur to the bottom of some jeans and the flap of a button up shirt, and took gloves added fur and claws to create a teen-wolverine. Also I created a Zorro costume by free motion quilting with metallic thread two pieces of black fabric creating a cape. Finishing the look with a black cowboy hat black mask black button down, and flashy boots!
Creating the 2-ninjas was a little more creating and sewing. Start off with underarmer! To keep the kids warm not only on Halloween but it can be used throughout the winter season. bonus!! Measure first from the hips over the shoulder to the buttocks. That will be the length of the poncho. Measure from solder to solder that is the width of the poncho. Fold the fabric in 1/2. cut out the 1/2 teardrop shape for the head hole. slim off the back to a flat bottom and the front to a diamond. Top stitch ribbon on all raw edges. The belt is a holster for their ninja knives and throwing blade. On the back of the poncho there is a place to holster the ninja sword. The swords and knives are wrapped with the same gold or silver as the boys costumes not only to look fab, but also to know which weapon belongs to which kid. The gold and silver ribbons will be wrapped down their arms and legs.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Quiting by Tiffany Barcus: ready - set - go!!

Let me start by telling some back ground of Unique; quilting by Tiffany Barcus.
I started long-arm quilting 5 years ago. I receved training at a small quilt shop Rock City Quilts in the small town of Valier, Montana. I dove in head first and never turned back. Creativity with the long-arm came easy to me. Although i have had my ups and downs in the atristic department. I hope to blog my older quilt photos with a breif story as to how they came to be quilted by me, my insperation for the quilting. Also some fun family highlights may find their way on. This blog is going to be the journy of my quilting, mother hood, author, ranch wife, and im sure i have more hats to try on soon.
